Fall Fashion Items You Need In Your Wardrobe- 11 Statement Pieces for Autumn!

Fall Fashion Items You Need In Your Wardrobe- 11 Statement Pieces for Autumn!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be talking about some fall fashion items you need in your wardrobe! When the weather gets cooler, you’ll need to make some small adjustments to your wardrobe. It may seem like a headache to alter your wardrobe every season and every time the trends change but building a timeless wardrobe with staple pieces will avoid this! Many of the items on my list can be thrifted or you can buy quality items to last you a lifetime. Building a timeless wardrobe will help reduce your headache when trying to find outfits, save money, and most importantly time!

So let’s get into it!

1. Cardigans

Cardigans are perfect for the autumn weather! They can be easily layered, dressed up or down, and are super cute.

2. Thigh-high suede boots

Thigh-high boots had a huge boom years ago but they’re back. Regular booties are also a must-have but thigh-highs are THAT look. You can wear them casually or for a night out. They keep your legs warm and are a great addition to your shoe collection for fall!

3. Sherpa sweaters

This is a great addition to your closet for cold weather. Having a sherpa sweater in the house instantly makes you 1000x comfier (sorry I don’t make the rules). It’s easy to throw over a cute lounge set and still manages to look very stylish!

4. Fur Coat

Fur coats are a classic look. This look does not have to be super dramatic and bougie but a fur vest can also serve the same purpose. A small cropped fur jacket can add a simple “je ne sais quoi” to your outfit and make you look prim, clean, and fashionable.

5. Knitwear

Knitwear is a no-brainer. Thick sweaters and knitwear sets are a must for fall. You can pair it with a t-shirt or collared shirt underneath for more layers.

6. Matching sets

Matching sets are a blessing! They are easy to style and take the stress out of coordinating and finding a daily outfit.

7. Silk, Satin, and Leather

Best materials and textures to be wearing this fall. Silk camis, satin scarves, leather jackets, leather pants. Dare to wear some heavier materials while the weather cools down!

8. Blazers

Blazers are super in right now! Whether daytime or nighttime, a blazer is an easy way to class up (and warm up) your fall fashion look. It can be worn casually with a pair of trousers and sneakers or dressed up with a dress and some heels.

9. Monochrome outfits

Who doesn’t love a monochromatic outfit? Beiges, tans, whites, blacks, greens are great colours to pick for your monochromatic fall fashion look. Don’t be afraid to spice up this classic look by wearing different shades of the same colour! This look makes you clean and put together.

10. Long dresses

Midi knit dress- do I need to say more? They’re warm, cozy, and sexy. Ditch the mini dresses for fall and get something that will keep looking hot and feeling warm.

11. Oversized everything

Oversized, baggy clothing has been trending for a while and will continue to be in fashion during the fall-winter months. Don’t overdo it but wearing sweaters that are a few sizes large or wearing the 90s straight jean look is.

How to Wake Up Early- 6 Benefits of Waking Up Early!

How to Wake Up Early- 6 Benefits of Waking Up Early!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be discussing the benefits of waking up early. From brain benefits to relaxation, waking up early is a beneficial part of a productive morning routine. Although it may seem hard to switch from being a night owl to an early bird, once you make the switch you won’t regret it! Mornings in the summer are especially a great thing to experience. The morning dew, cool breeze, and quietness are something to truly behold.

I personally was never a morning person growing up. As I get older, I realized I am healthier and way more productive when I have a good sleep schedule and when I wake up relatively earlier. Hating the mornings is commonplace and it’s understandable why. Who wants to wake up from their comfy bed to go to work/ school/ do chores? Not many people. But once you change your mindset, you’ll begin to love waking up early. The most crucial part of enjoying waking up early is preparing something you’re excited about!

So let’s get into it!

  1. More time

The most obvious benefit of waking up early is gaining more time. If you change your wakeup time from 10 am to 6 am, you instantly gain an additional 4 hours of free time to be more productive. This can save you from the “morning rush” that leads people to hate the mornings. If you wake up late every morning and have to rush around to get ready- how can you expect to. I recommend trying to wake up 15 minutes earlier each day before you get to your desired wake-up time. Use this newfound free time to meditate, stretch, do yoga, read a book, enjoy a nutritious breakfast, schedule out your day, exercise, or get ready for the day. You’ll find yourself also having more free time in the evening that you spend doing things you love with people you love!

2. Better concentration

Waking up and immediately jumping into your day can cause brain fog and grogginess for the first half of your day. By waking up earlier, you can ease into the day both mentally and physically allowing you to be fully ready to start your day! I remember waking up for high school at 7:45 am when my first class was at 8:15. Needless to say, I was unable to concentrate and truly focus in that class (and it was physics). Reading a book or writing out your daily schedule is a great start to get your brain out of sleep mode and ready for learning/ working!

3. Improve the quality of sleep

Waking up earlier leads to going to bed earlier. How does this improve your quality of sleep? The actual feeling of tiredness should not hit you around midnight- that means your circadian rhythm is complete. Begin rising with sunrise and going to bed at a conservative time. This will allow you to get deeper and higher-quality sleep because your hormones are in line with your environment. If you ever worked consistent night shifts, you can still get a full 7-10 hours of sleep but the quality of sleep is much different from when you work at night versus the morning.

4. Increases organization

Having more time allows you to be more productive and organized. By having more time in the morning, you can use a daily planner and schedule your entire day! I prefer writing a to-do list, appointments, and things that must get done at certain times. I love using a physical daily planner as it helps me remember my task more efficiently and it feels peacefulness. Also, with your morning free time you can physically help your day run more smoothly by making your coffee at home, meal planning for the day, doing laundry, or packing your gym bag. All of these can aid in your days running much more efficiently allowing more time for hobbies and other things.

5. Commute efficiently

Waking up earlier can get you on the road and to your destination. Rush hour in the morning is caused because many professionals and students all start their day around the same day. Getting up a few hours earlier than the general population can help you get that jump start on your day. Avoid the traffic and long coffee lines by setting your alarm a bit earlier.

6. Solitude and sunrise

The morning solitude and sunrise are variably unmatched. When waking up earlier, you have a unique piece of free time that is peaceful, mindful, and relaxing. Using this time to set your intentions for the day is a game-changer. Even if you wake up in a bad mood, you have time to recalibrate yourself and your emotions for the day. Especially if you are in a full house, this time may be one of the few that you have by yourself. Sometimes when you’re so busy and always surrounded by people, you can forget to check in with yourself. How have you been feeling? Have you been neglecting your self-care? Are you getting burnt out? This time in solitude is great for self-care, mental health, and physical health.

Sunrise is also a special experience that we take for granted. Expressing gratitude for your life and blessings is another way to appreciate your early mornings.

Tips

  1. Prepare an exciting breakfast
  2. Play music
  3. Express gratitude and set intentions for your day
  4. Plan an outfit you love
  5. Go outside and enjoy nature

12 Wardrobe Essentials – How to Build a Timeless Closet!

12 Wardrobe Essentials – How to Build a Timeless Closet!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be discussing 12 wardrobe essentials and how to build a timeless closet! Do you ever look into your closet and feel like you have nothing to wear? It may be time for you to revamp your closet! As I always say, buy quality clothing and avoid fast fashion! Try to thrift, buy second-hand, and sell/donate your older clothes. That is why I will be going through some wardrobe essentials that are always in style and can serve as the backbone and the go-tos of your closet!

When you base your entire wardrobe off of only trending styles, you doom yourself to wasted money and clothes. In earlier times, there were only four fashion seasons (spring, summer, winter, fall) but today, there are so many new trends occurring more rapidly than before. This is not to say to not engage in trends- it can be fun! But you will really shine when you develop your own personal style instead of relying on social media to tell you what to wear.

So let’s get into it!

1. Little Black Dress

The little black dress can serve to be a great look on so many occasions. Investing in a nice mid-length black dress will definitely be worth all the use it will get! I recommend tailoring it as well so it fits you like a glove. It is very convenient to have a perfectly fitting dress for a fancy occasion which you know makes you look gorgeous!

2. Blazer and Jean Jacket

A nice fitted and oversize black blazer and a jean jacket are definitely wardrobe staples! Each can serve to either dress up a casual look or make a dressy outfit a bit more relaxed. A high-quality blazer and jean jacket will last you forever so don’t be afraid to get a nice one!

3. Jeans and Trousers

A well-fitted pair of jeans and trousers are essential. I would recommend a pair of black, dark wash, and light washes of jeans (white as well if you’re feeling adventurous). There a plenty of different fits of jeans available! Straight, slim, skinny, boyfriend, flared, bootcut, mom, lowrise, highrise, jeggings, and more. I recommend you try on different fits and see what flatters your specific body the most. Recently, the oversized relaxed fit of jeans has been quite popular! I discuss more fashion trends in this post. Trousers are a great option instead of jeans and can be worn in a more professional environment.

4. T-Shirts and Blouses

A black, white, and grey t-shirt can never go wrong. Whether oversized, fitted, v-neck, or scoop neck, some nice quality t-shirts are a great pairing for many casual outfits. On the other hand, it is also good to have some nice blouses handy! These will be perfect on occasions where a t-shirt is a bit too casual. A nice collection of blouses is great to have and can be easily paired with jeans or trousers to make a cute look!

5. Skirts

A maxi, midi, and mini skirt are essentials! A well-fitted skirt can never go wrong. Depending on the circumstances, some lengths and styles of skirts may or may not be appropriate so make sure you have nice skirts in all 3 lengths! Be sure to have also a casual skirt and a more formal/ classy skirt as well.

6. Shapewear

No matter what kind of body you have under your clothes, shapewear can be useful for anyone. Shapewear can help with bloating and helps your clothes look well fitted and seamless. Make sure your shapewear isn’t bulky and obvious underneath your clothes- this defeats the purpose! Some people even say fajas can help with back pain and posture. Furthermore, some stockings are also good to have. Nude stockings can help your legs look smooth and slim and black ones can add some modesty to your outfit.

7. Loungewear

This goes without saying but some good loungewear to wear at home is essential! Ditch those old jogging pants and washed-out t-shirt and get some comfortable and still cute loungewear.

8. Athleisure

Athleisure is a great option if you’re running errands or have some physical work to do. It’s nice to have when you don’t feel like wearing jeans or trousers and a nice top but still allows you to look put together in public. A monochromatic athleisure look is a super cute look and very in style!

9. Belts

I recommend having at least a brown and black belt in both silver and gold varnish. Although a small detail, having all your metals match will make you look 10x more put together!

10. Shoes

It is good to have a pair of running (exercise) shoes, tennis shoes, flats, wedges, pumps, stilettos. There are many different designs and colours but it is good to start with simple black or nude (your specific skin tone) heels and then to build your collection from there.

11. Purses

It is always good to have a tote bag, gym bag, clutch, shoulder bag, and handbag! As with the belts, a brown and black purse with gold and silver varnish will serve to make your outfit look more complete and stylish. From here, you can add some purses with fun colours and cool designs. As a tip, don’t buy something just because you like it, buy it if you see yourself actually wearing it!

12. Classy Sleepwear

A nice pair of pyjamas will make you want to go bd early! I recommend having silk pyjamas set because of the myriad of benefits for your skin. Little things such as having a classy pyjama set will add some small happiness in places you didn’t even realize need it!

Gut Health- Why It is More Important Than You Think!

Gut Health- Why It is More Important Than You Think!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be talking about gut health and why it is super important! As you will learn today gut health goes beyond our digestive system to affect other parts of our body. Also, the gut microbiome is a growing topic of research that is rooted in learning about the gut-brain connection. Everyone knows about prebiotics and probiotics but what about the bacteria balance? What foods tip the balance into unfavourable conditions? With some research, I will be explaining gut health, gut bacterias, foods that affect gut health, and gut-brain connections.

So let’s get into it!

  1. What Is Gut Health?

Gut health refers to the function of the gastrointestinal tract and also the balance of the bacterias present. Our gastrointestinal tract includes our mouth, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, and anus. These parts in conjunction with our microbiome (gut bacterias) help digest our food with ease.

UC Davis Health

2. Bacterias and Balance

Surprisingly, our gut microbiome contains around 400 different types of bacteria. Shocking right! Our diet and lifestyle activities maintain or alter this dynamic equilibrium of bacteria. Furthermore, our gut microbiome can be compared to our fingerprint- it is unique to each individual. It is also believed that a disruption of the bacteria balance can be linked to obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and inflammatory bowel diseases.

3. Foods and Gut Health

So what foods help keep this bacteria balance in check? In general, a healthy balanced diet that is meeting your personal nutritional requirements should be enough (vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, diversity, and caloric needs). On the other hand, here is a list of foods that are good for your GI- you’ll notice that fermented foods, probiotics, and prebiotics and fibre are the theme!

  2. Red Meats
  3. Alcohol
  4. Highly Processed Foods
  5. Highly Refined Foods

4. Gut-Brain Connection

The gut-brain connection is defined as the communication between your GI and your brain. This connection is both physical and biochemical. Interestingly, this connection works both ways! This means the state of your mind can affect your gut and the state of your gut can affect your mind! For example, it is thought that your gut is related to anxiety and stress.

Life and sustainability are all about balance and what feels best for you! Try out some new foods and cut back on a few things and figure out what works for you.

Best Hairstyles For Women- 11 Gorgeous and Effortless Looks!

Best Hairstyles For Women- 11 Gorgeous and Effortless Looks!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be talking about some quick, simple, and cute hairstyles for women to wear this summer! Hot weather makes it hard to really do full makeup and wear your hair in complex hairstyles so I will be sharing some styles to keep you feeling cool and cute in the hot sun.

It is important that we always take care of our hair- especially in the summer. Intense heat from the sun can further damage our hair! Make sure your hair is staying moisturized and you avoid long durations in direct sun as best as you can. When you take a dip in a nice, cold pool make sure you are washing your hair afterwards! Wearing swimming caps may not be the most stylish option so take care of your hair after chlorine exposure.

So let’s get into it!

  1. 2-Front Braids

The first style is the very simplest of the 11 hairstyles on this list! This can be worn at any time of time and is a quick and casual everyday look. All you have to do is part your hair in the middle and take to medium-size triangular pieces next to the part. You can braid these two pieces or you can leave them and put your hair in a bun or ponytail. This adds a bit of dimension to your face and spices up a basic hairstyle. All you need to complete this look is a comb, braiding ability, and hair elastics.

2. Middle-part slick back

If you have been following Audacia for a while, you know I love to mention a middle part slick back look. It is so timeless! This look can be daytime, night-time, causal, dressy, classy, and sexy! Most of all, it can be done in 5 minutes. All you need for this look is a comb, brush, styling gel or pomade, and a hair tie. You can put the hair in a ponytail, braid, or bun. Keep in mind that this is not necessarily an everyday style as a result of the styling gel and brush on the edges of your hair can cause damage but you can preserve your hairstyle by using a silk scarf when you go to bed and a shower cap!

3. Faux locs

This is a very cute and lightweight style! Committing to locs is not something that can be done lightly but this does not mean you can’t try out this style! Faux locs have been recently very popular and for a great reason. They are very versatile in length, style, and colour. If you have done your hair at home, you can take on the challenge of doing your own faux locs! For this style, you’ll need a rat-tail comb, clean pre-stretched hair, braiding hair, crochet hair, and hair clips. If you are inexperienced with doing hair, I recommend going to an accredited stylist near you.

4. Passion twists

Passion twists are an oldie but a goodie. This style is very natural, simple, and is perfect for summer! This style is slightly different from regular twists because of the use of curly crochet hair. Using this type of hair allows for a subtle curl to be added to each twist giving the hair more body and personality. This is a simple style that can even be done at home by beginners. All you need for this look is a rat-tail comb, clean pre-stretched hair, curly crochet hair, hair ties, and some styling gel.

5. Big curls

This is a very recent TikTok trend. I love this style because it is so in line with the 70s inspired fashion trends we are seeing this summer. If you want to do something super fun and new with your hair- try this out! You’ll need some clean straightened hair, hair rollers, a round brush, and a touch of hair spray. This look is great as a daytime beach look with a cute sundress and stylish accessories.

6. Knotless braids

Knotless braids have been booming in the natural hair community and for good reason. This new technique of braiding allows the braids to be smaller, lay flatter on your head and decreases tension on your roots. What could you want? This look is great for the summer because the style can be easily manipulated into a ponytail or bun. For this style, a rat-tail comb, braiding hair, hair ties, and styling gel are needed. These braids may take longer than usual because each braid is done in a “fed-in” technique in which more pieces are added as the braid continues. Try it out at home or go to a hairstylist near you!

7. Headbands

I love this preppy/ sporty look! The large headband gives off the country club look. This can be done with any type of hair at any length! Just slide on a thick headband and dress in a classic preppy outfit. Very cute and trendy!

8. Alligator/ crocodile hair clips

This is a super simple style that is still very stylish. All you need is a clip and some medium-length hair. This style is great for getting your hair out of the way in the hot sun. Not the best for any sports activities but is very casual and practical for everyday wear.

9. Headscarf

The silk headscarf is a timeless look that goes all the way back to the 50s and beyond. It is very simple and cute and is great for keeping your hair under control. All you need is a silk scarf and some bobby pins! You’ll be tying the scarf at the base of your neck and bobby pins can be used to secure it at the back if necessary. You can leave some pieces of hair out at the front to frame your face or you can wear them in more of a cap style!

10. Goddess braids

This style is similar to knotless braids but with a twist. With goddess braids, you’ll be leaving out a considerable length of the hair unbraided at the bottom to curl/wave it in a specific way. You can also add curly pieces of hair along the length of the braid to give off that Lisa Bonet or Zoe Kravitz look! For this style, you’ll need a rat-tail comb, clean pre-stretched hair, braiding hair, curly crochet hair or curly human hair, hair ties, and styling gels. This style can be very versatile and is not harsh on your hair at all- get into it!

11. Natural hair

This one may seem lame but remember your natural has always and will always be a look! Don’t feel pressured to dive into all the new, trendy hairstyles. Taking care of your natural hair will always be most important. This is done not only through products but by maintaining a healthy lifestyle overall. Exercise, eat healthily, and reduce your stress and watch your hair flourish. The summer is a perfect time to let your natural locs free- have fun and be confident!

Appearing Naturally Attractive- 6 Simple Tips and Law of Attraction!

Appearing Naturally Attractive- 6 Simple Tips and Law of Attraction!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be talking about how to be naturally attractive and some simple tips to improve your health and embrace your appearance. To achieve this look, you need to focus on the inside instead of the outside appearance. Let go of that unrealistic figure of perfection and work on naturally refining yourself! When we think of refining our appearance, many people may jump to makeup or hair extensions (which are perfectly fine) but these are things you don’t want to rely on to look presentable. There’s nothing wrong with dolling yourself up to the 9s but how do you look underneath all that? That is what is important.

Most of what we see as beautiful and attractive is health! Have you ever met or someone who was not technically conventionally attractive to society’s standard but was still absolutely beautiful? I guarantee that this person took great pride in their appearance and put their health first. Unless you have a medical need, you can still look gorgeous without serious cosmetic surgery. Follow these tips and watch yourself glow!

So let’s get into it!

  1. Teeth

Your teeth, smile, and your breath are VERY important for you to appear naturally attractive. Oral hygiene is an indicator of your healthiness and can influence other’s perceptions of you. If braces or Invisalign is a viable option, I would recommend you get them done! You also should be brushing your teeth at least twice a day (day and night), and after each meal, if you wish. Be conscious and try to carry gum (or toothbrush and toothpaste) with you everywhere you go but avoid speaking to people while chewing gum.

Your brushing routine should always include flossing, brushing, and mouthwash (optional: tongue scraping). Floss between every tooth, brush for at least two minutes (don’t forget your gums), vigorously brush your tongue or tongue scrape, and finish off with a whitening mouth wash. If you want to improve the colour of your teeth, you can get affordable whitening strips from Walmart or Amazon. You can use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. If you have some disposable funds, get them professionally whitened.

I do not recommend lemon juice, strawberries, or charcoal as they seriously damage the state of your enamel and can cause significant issues. A good rule of thumb is to not whitening them past the shade of white of your eyes. Don’t destroy the health of your teeth trying to achieve a certain level of whiteness. Whiten in increments and once you get the colour you desire, maintain it through whitening mouth wash and sensitive whitening toothpaste!

2. Hair

The state of your hair is also a great deal of your appearance and being attractive. Before we jump into changing your hair, you need to care for your hair! I have a great post here about how to grow your hair out. You need to focus on the health of your crown not only through a proper and regular routine that addresses your concerns (dryness, frizziness, heat damage, colouring damage, etc) but a diet that is providing your hair with enough nutrients to grow healthily. As I said in my previous post, “important nutritional staples for hair growth include vitamin D (salmon, ricotta, mackerel, egg yolks), vitamin E (almond, peanut butter, pumpkin, safflower oil, spinach), biotin (meats, eggs, fish, seed, sweet potatoes), protein (protein powder, meats, fish, beans, nuts, cottage cheese), and omega-3 fatty acids (supplements, fish, avocados).”

Next, you’ll want to find a colour and style that would best suit you. Watch Youtube videos of your skin shade and undertones and determine your face shape. Try to research what kind of cuts, styles, or colours would best compliment your natural features. Have fun and make a Pinterest board with some hair-spiration!

3. Skin

Most of the time our skin is a reflection of what is going on inside our bodies but other times medical intervention is needed. Just at a first glance, the state of your skin can help you appear healthy and attractive. Don’t feel ashamed to reach out to a board-certified dermatologist to get some skin therapy. Research aestheticians in your area and find one willing to educate you and help your skin improve over time! I have a couple of posts about skincare routines that can help you learn a bit about the basics. Exfoliate your body often and moisturize properly. Don’t be afraid of incorporating a body oil or a body mask into your routine! This can give your body a nice glow!

Just like our hair, our diet and regimen are important in achieving glowing skin. Find out your skin type and build a manageable routine to address your skin concerns (discolouration, acne, dryness, oiliness). Always start with absolute basics (cleanser, lotion, and sunscreen) and then add steps that are absolutely necessary. Here are my posts on skincare routines (1,2).

Body hair removal can be painful and it’s totally not necessary. Do what makes you feel comfortable but sure you are always well kept. Being naturally attractive does not mean you have to do things you hate.

Shaving is a popular method but can be an issue for some. Try to exfoliate before you shave, use a shaving cream/oil, and add an astringent on areas that you are prone to ingrown and irritation. Be soft with your skin after shaving but begin exfoliation a couple of days after to prevent ingrown hairs.

Depilatory creams such as Nair or Veet are a painless way of removing hair. All you have to do is apply the cream to areas containing on wanted hair and let it sit for 5-7 minutes. Wipe off the cream and you instantly have smooth skin!

Waxing is a method of hair removal that can be done anywhere on the body. It pulls the hair out from the root, therefore, lasts longer than shaving. It can be done at home or at a salon. Make sure to take care of your skin afterwards to avoid irritation.

Laser hair removal is the process of using a laser machine on shaved skin to slow down hair growth. Multiple treatments are needed but many people see great. Be careful with laser hair removal depending on your skin tone and hair colours (deeper tones can get burnt and blondes are not able to do this).

Electrolysis is the only proven permanent method of hair removal and can be done on any skin tone (and is said to work better than laser for thick-haired people). It is more expensive and takes longer than laser hair removal but it is truly permanent.

4. Face

This category refers to our lashes, lips, eyes, and eyebrows! There are many different beauty treatments to keep these aspects of our face looking fresh, beautiful, and make us appear naturally attractive.

Lashes

First, you’ll want to ensure your lashes are strong and healthy through good practice. Eat a balanced diet and avoid harsh scrubbing when removing make-up (use an oil cleanser). Lashes compliment our eyes in very different ways.

Next, if you find you still have issues with eyelash growth I recommend you invest in a lash serum! These help promote blood flow in this region which aids in delivering the promote elements that increase growth. Castor oil is a holy grail for many people but test your skin first for any irritation and avoid your eyes during application.

There is a myriad of treatments you can get on your eyelashes. These aren’t necessary but they can give your natural appearance a much more dramatic and “already done” look.

Lash lifts are a type of treatment that semi-permanently curls your lashes. The duration is different for everyone but it can last around 6-8 weeks. This procedure is usually done in conjunction with a lash tint!

Lash tinting adds dimension and makes your eyelashes look fuller and longer by dying them! This can last around 4 weeks.

Lastly, lash extensions, the biggest commitment, is when individual lash hairs are glued to your real ones in order to add fullness, thickness, and length. These are very high maintenance and touch-ups are required every 3 weeks to keep them looking in tip-top shape. These are also not an inexpensive investment so it is something to think about it first. I also find that lash extensions damage your natural lashes, so it is best to weigh a personal pro and cons list for this.

Lips

Your lips are very important! Smooth, moisturized, and natural coloured lips are always a great, healthy, and attractive look. Hydration is important for keeping your lips plump. Make sure you are drinking at least 2 litres of water every day and moisturizing your lips with a hydrating lip balm (not just lip gloss). You can also incorporate lip exfoliation into your routine to ward off dead skin. Just use some sugar, honey, and olive oil and then moisturize afterwards!

There are also lip shading procedures to even out the colour of your lips or to add a touch of colour. This is not a cheap investment as it is not permanent and can run you from $300-800 depending on your location. This is not necessary but can be a great investment for those with extra money to spend. Lip fillers are a very popular and overdone procedure in current times. I personally find that lip filler tends to look extremely unnatural and overdone in most cases. If you are considering lip fillers, please take time to research into and start off very conservative! It is very hard to undo seriously botched cases.

Eyes

Take care of your eyesight! Wear sunglasses, reading glasses, and blue light glasses. Manage your screen time. Invest in contacts and use hydrating eye drops when necessary. If you notice your eyesight getting worse, do not neglect to schedule an appointment with your optometrist. Our eyes are important and we need to treat them as such.

Eyebrows

Eyebrows are very personal to everyone. They frame our faces and can radically change our appearance. Eyebrows that suit your unique features do more than you can imagine in appearing naturally attractive. If you have issues growing out your eyebrows, using an eyebrow growth serum is a great option. A lot of people swear by castor oil but patch test this before putting it on your face! The recent trend has been big, fluffy eyebrows but if this is not for you can get your eyebrows threaded or waxed. Threading refers to the process of removing hair by using a special thread. This has been developed in Southeast Asia and the Middle East centuries ago. Waxing involves applying hot wax to the areas with unwanted hair and pulling off, removing the hair. The results will last depending on the rate of hair regrowth.

You can get your eyebrows mapped to make sure they suit your face perfectly! Research and take time before going to get your eyebrows done because not everyone is equally qualified.

If you’re looking for a more permanent (and expensive) solution to perfect eyebrows, there are a myriad of different treatments. Research into what you want, the aesthetician, and weigh out the pros and cons.

Eyebrow tinting refers to dying the eyebrow with dye formulated for the eyebrows or henna to darken and refine the shape. This is great for people with thin or very light eyebrows because it can help bring dimension to your face. Tinting can last anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks.

Eyebrow lamination perms eyebrows into the “soap brow” look (brushed up and thick). The results can last for up to 8 weeks.

Microblading involves tattoo eyebrow hair stroke into the skin using a needle and semi-permanent pigment. A touch-up is needed after the initial procedure to fill in any spots and the final results can last over 2 years.

Shading/ powder brows are similar to microblading but the technique and tools do not provide individuals eyebrow strokes but a soft powdered look. The powder can also last up to 3 years.

Nano brows are the most expensive procedure and arguably the most natural-looking. This procedure is done by an ultra-sharp needle that can produce strokes similar to real eyebrow hair. This lasts up to 3 years.

5. Wadrobe

It’s time for you to revamp your wardrobe! Buy clothes that fit your body shape and your skin tone. Learn how to dress according to codes and age-appropriately. Invest in the quality of your clothing and get comfortable with tailoring your clothes. You look so much more put together when your clothes fit every curvature of your body. Learn how to properly wash your clothes, remove stains, lint, and iron/steam them when necessary. This is not a huge step but can make a huge difference in your appearance.

6. Weight

Ensure that you are healthy and your height/ weight proportions are ideal. Consult a BMI chart, determine your body fat percentage, and your goal weight. There is undeniably a bias towards those who keep themselves fit. Focus on your body fat percentage and your measurements. The scale, more often than not, is inaccurate in showing you what is actually happening with your body. For women, a 20-25 body fat percentage range is usually healthy but this can vary widely on your body shape, proportions, height, and age. For men, it is usually a bit lower around 14-20 percent.

Start with proper diet and exercise first and then start tracking your progress. You want to build a sustainable lifestyle, not a crash diet. Don’t change your body ONLY to be naturally attractive, you need to want to change for yourself first and foremost and from a place of self-love and not self-hate.

Remember, self-love and confidence are also essential. Here is my post on how to improve your confidence and self-esteem!
