The Science Behind Manifestation- Turning Positive Thinking Into Action!

Today I will be talking about the science behind manifestation and how to turn positive thinking into positive action! Manifestation is huge right now along with positive affirmations and other things of that nature. Neville Goddard is at the heart of many of these manifestation communities because of his work on self-help, mysticisms, and the Bible. He believed that if you truly believe a desire is yours, your reality has no choice other than to harden it into a fact. This is the most important tenet of manifestation! Many people have amazing success stories with using manifestation from small things such as money, a good job to huge things like new apartments, cars, and their “dream” significant other.

So… is it real?

There have been many deep dives into the scientific and psychological side of manifestation that I will be sharing with you all today!

1. What is manifestation?

So, what exactly is manifestation?

Manifestation is the act of focusing your mind, setting your thoughts, changing your mindset to bring about a specific goal into reality. This means harnessing your imagination into something that will become tangible. With this, it is said you must live and think as if your desires are already true, rejecting any logic that would prove otherwise from your desired manifestation. You also have to let go of any doubts, “limiting beliefs”, and trust the process entirely. Being clear and consistent with what you want is essential to bring it to fruition.

This sounds slightly dangerous if someone is trying to manifest something a bit illogical but in the realm of manifestation, nothing is seen as illogical.

2. Ways to manifest

There are many different ways to manifest but I will be going over the most popular ways.

Subconscious Reprogramming

This method uses subliminal, affirmations, and soundwave therapy to essentially alter your subconscious mind to a more positive state thus mentally aligning you with your desires.

Scripting

This technique includes journaling every day about positive experiences, gratitude, and your manifestations. With scripting, you have to write as if your manifested desires are already true and the thankfulness you will because of it.

Affirmations

Affirmations are short and specific sentences that affirm your desires. The thought is that if you repeat these daily, twice a day, etc, you are programming your subconscious mind to believe that you deserve your desires.

3. So Is It Real?

Is it real? It is hard to scientifically prove something that is so outside the realm of what we know to be true. Here are two popular scientific explanations of the validity of manifestation.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecies

A self-fulfilling prophecy is a phenomenon in which we will subconsciously act in a certain way that aligns with our predictions or beliefs, positive or negative. For example, if you have a job interview and you have negative self-talk days before it happens, you may subconsciously self-sabotage or bomb the interview. With this, the opposite can be seen in positive predictions which can explain manifestation.

The Placebo Effect

This phenomenon refers to the power of belief and the mind. This was discovered in a clinical trial in which participants were given sugar pills (no therapeutic actions or effects) but they were told it held the power to cure their ailments. Surprisingly, some of these participants showed real and quantitative measures of healing and believed that they were better! This also can be applied to the results of manifestation.

4. Success Stories

So what can you achieve with manifestation? There are many famous celebrities who have attested to the power of manifestation.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah credits all of her success to the power of visualization. She is said to have visualized her success such as nailing her audition before she even stepped in the room! She would later than do so and win the acting part.

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey famously used visualization to manifest his dreams. It is said he wrote himself a check for 10 million USD for 10 years in the future before he was successful. 9 years later, because of his massive success in movies like Ace Ventura, he was well worth over 10 million dollars.

Will Smith

Will believes that if you truly believe in yourself and can visualize yourself achieving your dreams, you can materialize them! He says, “Our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, our ideas are physical in the universe. That if we dream something, if we picture something, it adds a physical thrust towards the realization that we can put into the universe.”

5. Final Thoughts

Is it scientifically backed? Not quite. It is a complete hoax? Doesn’t seem to be.

The use of manifestation at this time seems to be a personal journey with confidence building and self-acceptance which is a good thing for everyone! On the other hand, it does not appear to be a sure-fire way to help everyone with their problems. But in the end, manifestation seems to be a harmless way to help improve your self-talk and mindset that can help you with your goals.

So let’s get into it!


1. Record Yourself

The first thing you’ll want to do is record yourself speaking around a paragraph or passage of 5-8 sentences! Try to be as natural as possible as if you are speaking to a co-worker or classmate. When you listen back to it, make a list of the things you want to change whether it be your cadence or pitch. Be aware of the things you want to work on! No need to overanalyze yourself, our personal quirk when speaking make us special! Just focus on the things that can interfere with coherent speech such as mumbling and adding too many filler words.

2. Pronunciation

Mispronouciating words are nothing to be ashamed of! Working on pronunciation and especially of complex words is a lifelong journey so make it fun! As a starter, make a list of words that you tend to trip on and practice your pronunciation daily for a few minutes. Try to incorporate these words a bit more in your daily communication until you get comfortable with it!

Furthermore, try to actively diversify your vocabulary through reading more, listening to podcasts, and downloading dictionary apps! Many of these apps will send you a new daily word that you can learn how to pronounce and eventually work into your daily vocabulary.

3. Monitor Your Speed

Monitoring your speed when you talk is essential! Have you ever spoken to someone who knew how to slow down their words and pick up their speed as well? It’s super engaging! Changing your speed when you talk is essential to communicate efficiently and captivatingly! When we get nervous it may seem impossible to slow down but just take a deep breath or a sip of water and try again. Realize that people are listening to you for a reason, they want to hear what you have to say! There’s no reason to rush through your words.

Slow down your words when you are trying: describe something, build a narrative, or increase focus

Increase your tempo when you are trying: get people excited, introduce something, or get a point across

4. Volume and Pitch

Your volume and pitch are important! Being too loud or too quiet, too high-pitched and squeaky and low-pitched and deep can hurt our ability to communicate. You don’t need to speak in a way that’s uncomfortable to you but try to be clear and coherent when you talk. Our volume and pitch tend to change to emphasize power words such as when describing things or making a point.

For example, if you say “I saw a huge spider and I was scared”, it won’t generate much interest or reaction but if you say, “I saw a huge (increase volume and elongated the pronunciation) spider”, it tells a different story! Be aware of these things when you speak and try to emphasize and alter your volume and pitch only on words you want to bring attention to.

5. Be Confident!

Confidence is key! Once you nail down all the basics; pronunciation, speed, pitch, and volume- you’ll need to work on your confidence. Try to talk aloud more with your new techniques to get comfortable! Don’t be afraid to strike up some more small talk with your co-worker or when you’re running errands. The more you speak, the more comfortable you’ll become, and the more articulate you’ll be! Record yourself periodically to see your improvement over time as well.

Try to read more! Reading can help us expand our vocabulary and help with our ability to describe and build a narrative.

Download a dictionary app to help with expanding vocabulary and improving pronunciation.

Listen to podcasts to hear how professional speakers articulate and control their tone, pitch, volume, cadence, etc.

Study different languages! When learning a foreign language, we are also forced to gain a deeper understanding of our own native tongue.

Make eye contact and smile when you speak- it will help you appear comfortable, confident, and engaged!

Don’t be afraid to use your hands when describing something! It adds an extra element to your story and can captivate the audience.

Social Media Etiquette- 5 Tips on Appearing More Mysterious!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be talking about social media etiquette and ways to become more mysterious while online! In this social media age, it has become commonplace to overshare and overindulge your followers in your personal life, drama, and goals. As I have said before, I do not necessarily believe social media is inherently evil but it is now being used in unhealthy ways! I recommend going through your following list on every platform you use and unfollowing people who make you feel sad, that you always compare yourself to, post solely of drama and promote an unhealthy lifestyle (constantly drinking, smoking, cancel culture, etc).

If you find you spend too much time on social media, you can impose screen time limits through iPhone settings, Digital Wellbeing, RealizD, and much more. You can then follow pages that speak of healthiness, healing, exercise, finance, etc! Follow people that can teach you something beneficial or that you find positive and entertaining. Also, feel free to delete old posts that no longer represent who you are! Your social media presence is one that only you can dictate and curate.

In addition to your consumption, the way you post on social media is just as important. As I go through the list, remember this does not mean you can’t share anything ever but try to exercise discernment when sharing aspects of your personal life. Just because someone follows you means that they are observing your life with good intentions.

So let’s get into it!


  1. Engaging in drama

Engaging in petty drama in real life is already not tasteful but online? Not a look. It may be fun to consume ridiculous petty and online drama once in a while but you do not want to shape your life or your personality around it. Also, the moment you go from casually observing to engaging- you’ve gone too far. Have you ever talked to someone who was like the daily reporter for online drama? It is absolutely tiring, boring, and slightly pathetic. Being obsessed over cheating scandals that do not concern you or your immediate loved ones is unnatural behaviour. Step back from social media and realize that it is not real life. Your life is not KUWTK and WorldStarHiphop drama, it is connecting with others, growing, and trying to fulfill your personal goals.

To be clear, the petty drama does not mean supporting social causes such as #FreePalestine, #StopAsianHate, #BlackLivesMatter etc. Using your platform to create social change and bring awareness is. Make sure to try to tow the line when it comes to online debates and bickering. When you share your socioeconomic and political beliefs, you may open up yourself to those that are looking to argue and start drama.

2. Posting shady subliminals

Shading subliminals are in line with engaging in petty drama. Although you may be very upset about a personal situation, it is sometimes best to leave these emotions on the internet. When you post an obscure, catty comment online- it seems very immature and. Think about some of the people you admire. Do you see them posting shady subliminals on Twitter when they’re upset? No! Speak to your friends and family about the situation and do not seek refuge on the internet. It may seem nice at first, but oversharing online is like giving out free ammunition.

Positive subliminals on the other hand are nothing to be avoided. I would advise against sharing in great details about good things that have not been completely confirmed yet but that is just a personal preference. Some people like to share some of their goals online and that is fine as well! Sometimes sharing your goals online can improve your accountability and motivate you to stick to your word!

3. Being overly active

Liking, sharing, retweeting, and posing 24/7 365 is not a great look. Although, if you are trying to build a following online it may require more hours than a casual poster. If this is your case, try to automate and schedule posts so you don’t have to be online as much.

4. Swearing

Just like in person, swearing too much is a turn-off for most people. When you have to cuss every time you speak it makes you seem unintelligent and aggressive. Also, if you are new on the job market it may be wise to monitor what and how you say things on the internet. Although not true for all jobs but your online presence may be screened to determine your eligibility for your career prospects.

5. Indulging too much personal information

Try to avoid indulging too much personal information. This does not mean you can not post your graduation photos or share happy moments with your follower BUT you need to manage and make rules on what can and can not be shared on social media. Once you post on the internet, it is essentially impossible to ever get rid of it. I don’t mean you have to sit down and evaluate every post you make- that’s ridiculous! But when it comes to personal, familial, relationship, and friendship matters, try to judge the situation closely. Do you want to post on social media in great detail about your rocky personal relationships? Should you post about your destruction habits and downfalls? NEVER!

If the only place you feel true support and love is on the internet, you need to change your circle! Social media is not real life. You need to reach out to new people and separate yourself from toxic people in your daily life. When you realize the internet is your sole refuge, you need to try to change aspects of your life.

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be discussing the benefits of waking up early. From brain benefits to relaxation, waking up early is a beneficial part of a productive morning routine. Although it may seem hard to switch from being a night owl to an early bird, once you make the switch you won’t regret it! Mornings in the summer are especially a great thing to experience. The morning dew, cool breeze, and quietness are something to truly behold.

I personally was never a morning person growing up. As I get older, I realized I am healthier and way more productive when I have a good sleep schedule and when I wake up relatively earlier. Hating the mornings is commonplace and it’s understandable why. Who wants to wake up from their comfy bed to go to work/ school/ do chores? Not many people. But once you change your mindset, you’ll begin to love waking up early. The most crucial part of enjoying waking up early is preparing something you’re excited about!

So let’s get into it!


  1. More time

The most obvious benefit of waking up early is gaining more time. If you change your wakeup time from 10 am to 6 am, you instantly gain an additional 4 hours of free time to be more productive. This can save you from the “morning rush” that leads people to hate the mornings. If you wake up late every morning and have to rush around to get ready- how can you expect to. I recommend trying to wake up 15 minutes earlier each day before you get to your desired wake-up time. Use this newfound free time to meditate, stretch, do yoga, read a book, enjoy a nutritious breakfast, schedule out your day, exercise, or get ready for the day. You’ll find yourself also having more free time in the evening that you spend doing things you love with people you love!

2. Better concentration

Waking up and immediately jumping into your day can cause brain fog and grogginess for the first half of your day. By waking up earlier, you can ease into the day both mentally and physically allowing you to be fully ready to start your day! I remember waking up for high school at 7:45 am when my first class was at 8:15. Needless to say, I was unable to concentrate and truly focus in that class (and it was physics). Reading a book or writing out your daily schedule is a great start to get your brain out of sleep mode and ready for learning/ working!

3. Improve the quality of sleep

Waking up earlier leads to going to bed earlier. How does this improve your quality of sleep? The actual feeling of tiredness should not hit you around midnight- that means your circadian rhythm is complete. Begin rising with sunrise and going to bed at a conservative time. This will allow you to get deeper and higher-quality sleep because your hormones are in line with your environment. If you ever worked consistent night shifts, you can still get a full 7-10 hours of sleep but the quality of sleep is much different from when you work at night versus the morning.

4. Increases organization

Having more time allows you to be more productive and organized. By having more time in the morning, you can use a daily planner and schedule your entire day! I prefer writing a to-do list, appointments, and things that must get done at certain times. I love using a physical daily planner as it helps me remember my task more efficiently and it feels peacefulness. Also, with your morning free time you can physically help your day run more smoothly by making your coffee at home, meal planning for the day, doing laundry, or packing your gym bag. All of these can aid in your days running much more efficiently allowing more time for hobbies and other things.

5. Commute efficiently

Waking up earlier can get you on the road and to your destination. Rush hour in the morning is caused because many professionals and students all start their day around the same day. Getting up a few hours earlier than the general population can help you get that jump start on your day. Avoid the traffic and long coffee lines by setting your alarm a bit earlier.

6. Solitude and sunrise

The morning solitude and sunrise are variably unmatched. When waking up earlier, you have a unique piece of free time that is peaceful, mindful, and relaxing. Using this time to set your intentions for the day is a game-changer. Even if you wake up in a bad mood, you have time to recalibrate yourself and your emotions for the day. Especially if you are in a full house, this time may be one of the few that you have by yourself. Sometimes when you’re so busy and always surrounded by people, you can forget to check in with yourself. How have you been feeling? Have you been neglecting your self-care? Are you getting burnt out? This time in solitude is great for self-care, mental health, and physical health.

Sunrise is also a special experience that we take for granted. Expressing gratitude for your life and blessings is another way to appreciate your early mornings.

  5. Go outside and enjoy nature

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be talking about how to appear more confident in 7 quick steps. Not everyone is born with rock-solid confidence but thankfully it is something we can develop! When it comes to confidence, it is definitely one of the few things you can fake it ’til you make it. It is time to stop mumbling, avoiding eye contact, and slouching when speaking to others and know that you are worthy!

So let’s get into it!


  1. Correct Your Posture

The very first thing you must do is FIX YOUR POSTURE! This means even when you are alone. When we slouch and/or have bad posture when speaking to others, it gives you the appearance of being unsure of yourself, unconfident, and nervous! And not only does it effect people’s perception of you, having bad posture can cause injury to the lower back and neck through strain and stiffness. You can improve your posture through stretching and working out your posterior side. The 6 steps I always use to fix my posture is: (1) pull your shoulders back (comfortably) (2) protrude your chest slightly (3) lift your head to eye level (4) keep your chin level (5) put your weight in the middle to back of your feet (6) fix your pelvic tilt.

If you are used to slouching, fixing your posture may feel slightly uncomfortable for a while but stick to it and eventually it will be second nature!

2. Speak Clearly

STOP MUMBLING! It is one thing to have a naturally soft or quiet voice but if you tend to mumble and not finish your thoughts- STOP RIGHT NOW. Have you ever spoke to someone who mumbled and never articulated their words clearly? What did you think of them? Did you think they were knowledgeable, smart, and confident? NO! You thought they were nervous, unsure of themselves, and inexperienced! Is that they way you want to present yourself? Regardless of how smart you are, if you are not able to speak with grace and articulation- it will not show. Think about politicians. A majority of them definitely did not graduate as the top of their class BUT they are able to speak so well, they can win votes regardless of their background.

When fixing your speech, you’ll want to practice by yourself and record to hear how you talk and where you need to improve. Here is a fantastic video from a great youtube channel to fix your speech. Always remember that your thoughts are as worthy as anyone else’s when speaking! Talk up!

3. Eye Contact

Stop looking at your shoes, at the wall, and at anything other than the person speaking to you and the person you are speaking to! When you fail to look someone in their eyes during a conversation, it might actually be quite offensive. People may think their is an issue with them or think you’re rude or nervous- both things we want to avoid. A good rule it to look someone in their eyes for around 5 seconds before you look away for a couple seconds and then look back. It may feel awkward at first and that’s okay! A good way to improve your eye contact in daily life is to wear sunglasses. Don’t rely on this though, but for severe cases, start making strong eye-contact while wearing sunglasses to get used it.

4. Smile More

Don’t be afraid to show off your beautiful smile! This doesn’t mean to be smiling from cheek to cheek every second of the day but rather have a small smile on yourself when interacting with others. Appearing Happy = Appearing Kind = Appearing Confident. Have you seen anyone who seemed happy but unconfident? Seems to be a bit of an oxymoron. Practice in the mirror to find your resting happy face and use it! You’ll appear more confident, kind, and open to interactions.

Think of something happy and keep that smile on yourself throughout your day!

5. Have an Impeccable Appearance

Although confidence should not come from the outside, if you are struggling with being confident you need to be sure you always look your best. This does not mean you have to wear the latest thing Kanye West or Emrata posted on their Instagram but wear what makes YOU feel the best you can feel. When you feel good with what you’re wearing- it will show! I suggest completely gutting your wardrobe to only the pieces that make you feel 100% confident. Have a little fashion show and try on all your clothes! If you put it on and you don’t love it- throw it (donate it preferably)! Be confident in the your skin and clothes and know that you look good. 6. Stop Comparing Yourself

Comparing yourself is the fastest route to depression, anxiety, and lack of confidence. Do you find yourself comparing yourself to everyone who walks by? To people on TV, Instagram, or Facebook? A lot of people can’t help it but just because it’s normal does not mean its healthy.

If you compare yourself to people on social media- you should do a social media cleanse. I suggest cutting down on your social media time everyday (check your screen time in your phone and set limits) until you’re not checking it at all. Go a couple days or weeks without checking your feeds and see how you feel. Use self-affirmations every-time you look in the mirror and build your confidence! Learn that someone is always going to be doing something “better” than you but why does that matter? Does their success, looks, and possessions make them better than you? The answer is always NO. You are you, there has been nothing like you and there will be nothing like you- YOU ARE UNIQUE. So stop comparing yourself to others because they are not you and they could NEVER be you!

7. Stop Negative Self-Talk

“I feel fat”, “I look so ugly”, “I’m so dumb”. This type of negative self-talk needs to stop immediately (joking or not). Many people find self-deprecating jokes as a way to cope but it is not doing yourself any favours in the long run. This is not to say that some days you won’t feel ugly, fat, or dumb but it is imperative to not joke or dwell in these negative emotions. You are human and you are not going to be happy 24/7-365 but it is essential to combat negative self-talk once it appears. For example, when the thought of you being ugly pops in your mind you need to train yourself to stop and rectify it with a compliment to yourself!

If you think, “I look so ugly” STOP and then say, “I am beautiful and unique and I love my (insert feature)”

You really need to train yourself to stop talking bad about yourself. Do you find confident people constantly talking down about themselves? No- they “boost” themselves up with compliments all time! Every time you pass a mirror, you need to find one thing to compliment yourself about- either an internal or external characteristic!

Feeling Down? Here Are 7 Ways to Instantly Upgrade Your Look!

Hello Everyone!

Today I will be sharing a couple ways for you to instantly upgrade your look!

It can be very easy to get into your own head and you can forget to take care of yourself! Have you found yourself not showering everyday? Have you stayed in your pyjamas all day…even in your zoom meetings? I will be giving you some tips to upgrade your look with ease.

These easy tips will instantly make you look more put together on those days you’re feeling down and out!

So let’s get into it!


  1. Monochromatic Matching Loungewear and Outfits

Let’s be real- loungewear is just acceptable pyjamas, but they are super cute! Wearing one colour can make you look more put-together and classy without having to spend half an hour picking out an outfit. They can also be just as comfortable as those pyjamas you love so don’t hesitate to pick up a pair! Loungewear can come in a sweater/joggers pair, cami/shorts pair, cardigan/cami/shorts pair, and many more- so choose what looks best and feels best for you! Popular loungewear are super cute and tend to have a soft texture (silk, faux fur, fuzzy) and fit in a relaxed way. Here is an example:

2. Filed and Polish Nails

Nails that are filed, shaped, and polished can make you 10x more put together and easily upgrade your appearance! It is not necessary to get a full bio-gel $110 set but you can simply shape your natural nails at home and throw on some clear polish. I love clear polish because it goes with every outfit and makes your nails look very healthy!

If clear polish is too boring for you, choose any colour that suits your style. I love pale pinks, bright reds, and the classic french tip. Bonus points if you match your manicure to your pedicure as well! This makes you look like you take pride in your appearance and is super cute (especially paired with that monochromatic loungewear you’ve picked out). It is a very simple step that make you look fashionable!

3. Slick Low Bun

We all have those bad hair days! But what if i told you I have a certified hair style to combat any unruly and uncooperative hair?

The SLICK (middle part) LOW BUN. Yes! This hairstyle might be the easiest thing to do! The slick low bun is very classy and gives off “boss-girl” vibes or you can add some baby hairs to frame your face and you instantly have the “cute girl next door” vibes! It is quite versatile for a simple hairstyle! If the low bun isn’t your speed, you can throw it a braid in the low ponytail instead for a very trend look. So no more, messy top buns and opt for a middle part slick low bun for a more groomed look! Here are some examples:

4. Simple Jewelry

Small Jewelry pieces upgrade your look within seconds! Wearing small earrings, thin banded rings, and a cute bracelet will take your look from 0 to 10 instantly. It is imperative to not choose tacky, in-your-face pieces (that’s not the look we are going for…today at least) because it will definitely cheapen your look! Choose more small pieces to add a delicate and model look to your appearance. Here are some examples of what I mean:

5. Groom Your Eyebrows

Bushy eyebrows are a trend but this does not mean unkempt eyebrows. If your eyebrows have a life of their own, it’s time to get them in line. Here is a great video for at home eyebrow mapping to make sure your eyebrows are as even as possible (if they are not even don’t fret- it’s normal!). Eyebrows frame your face and groomed eyebrows make a huge difference in your appearance. When you groom your eyebrows, your skin looks clear and bright and it brings harmony to your face!

6. Curl Your Eyelashes

If you love a full natural face of makeup – go ahead! But if you’re not feeling up to it, these next two steps will give you a natural makeup look with no makeup! Curling your eyelashes brings life and a little bit of drama to your eyes (you can add mascara if you dare). In my opinion, eyes and lips are the most alluring features, so focus on these to upgrade your appearance instantly (without the heavy lifting of a full makeup look)! A great tip is to heat your eyelash curler with a blow dryer for around a minute and then curl your lashes (be careful not to burn yourself)! This will ensure your lashes will stayed cute and curled all day!

7. Tinted Lipgloss

After curling your lashes, some natural or tinted lipgloss is the final step to upgrading your appearance. Adding some colour and shine to your lips can make them look healthy and add a bit of sexiness to your look!
